About: My interest in soccer came from playing FIFA 17 & FIFA 18 with the complex story mode the game had. Some of the soccer teams that I had the chance to watch on TV was Argentina and FC Barcelona. Usually the times I played soccer was during PE or Lunch in elementary school.
About me: When it comes to soccer, I’m an incredibly passive watcher, so my knowledge isn’t as great when conversations come up about specific players and their individual play styles. I can’t wait to see what I can learn that changes my perspective on it, as I played for 10ish years when I was little! Sports as a whole has been such an important part of my life, whether I mean for it to be or not, and I want that importance shared.
About: My interest in soccer stems from being around my sister while growing up. She played soccer for about 2 years, but that is what started my interest in athletic competition, and being a twin, it was an outlet to compete with him. That’s when I began playing soccer in my youth, but I only played for a few months before moving and switching to baseball.
About Me: I have a genuine passion for sports, particularly football and basketball, but I also have a keen interest in almost every other sport I’m familiar with. I used to play soccer in a youth league when I was younger, and that was the peak of my soccer experience. I had a roommate last year who was a big soccer fan, and he played FIFA all the time. I would often ask him questions about the game and the sport in general. He really helped to pique my interest in the sport again, and I want to use this class to further my knowledge of soccer. Also, my roommate was a huge fan of Leonardo Trossard for some weird reason, so he has always stuck with me when I think about soccer.
About: I have just always loved sports and played them since I was a kid and played college football my freshman year and now coach at Ashe county high school. I have never really been overly knowledgeable about soccer but I’ve tried multiple times and as far is I’ve got is that my favorite club is FC Wolves and my favorite player is Adama Traoré.
About me: I (Henry) have always played soccer because of my older brother. I only played travel soccer once because my parents didn’t like missing church on Sundays. I played soccer through highschool inwhich I got four concussions in two years( only one was a header). These injuries made me fall out of love with the sport. I think Salah should get more recognition.
About: I have had very few experiences with soccer. My earliest memories of the sport include me kicking a soccer ball into the woods in my 4-year-old league. Later exposure was my little brother playing on the same team in Elementary School. Over the summer, I worked with a lot of people from Latin America and the UK. Despite having nothing in common, they all loved talking about soccer. I am interested in the impact this sport has had on its countries and the full extent of its influence on the world.
About: I enjoy running and most sports. I have never kept up much with soccer, so I want to learn more as I do keep up with most other sports. The few ties I had to soccer was playing it in elementary school and friends who played it in high school. I’ve always been interested about the history of specific teams in sports, which played a part in me taking this class. I also felt that with the World Cup coming up being partially played in the United States, that now was a good time to expand my knowledge of the history of the World Cup and how it is organized.

Introduction: Hello! My name is Colin Bittner, I am a 21 year old transfer student from the beaches of NC. I have never had much interest in the sport of soccer, but I watched some of the 2022 WC and had a good time, so when I got the chance to sign up for this class I thought it’d be a fun opportunity to “spread my wings” in the sport of soccer, and as an overall sports fan for college football and NFL football, expanding my view on other sports in the form of a class is something that interested me.
For my picture, my friends and all picked different national teams in the 2022 WC to cheer for, and I ended up getting Morocco (who had a pretty good showing!)
